Cascade of poems and Rivulets of fiction

NICHE Sometimes I reason Staring at nothing To be part of tales I stitch at times When going is clueless I become reckless Another zone Another thought Another self I draw to remind I am alive With a drive In a space I love to thrive Carving a niche A humble dwelling Of my own.

  Lakshmi Darkness provokes sleep to kiss the eyelids They refuse to do Waiting for the one since aeons Lamp in between the palms Bordered in red, step inside the arc Anklets of golden bells Pearls of nathni, the nose ring, waves The jarau maang tika,the tiara, Protects the round crimson powder from the wind The cascade of curls in jasmine fragrance The wick of the lamp  Burning steady, unfazed, uninterrupted Manifest her love  Undeterred, undaunted rendering 'take me in your arms hide me in your eyes only you only you see the lamp of my love'.

Wrapped him up with cotton wool, Drops of water into his mouth , Ceaseless effort to keep him alive , Sleeping hours, Nourished with milk, Touch that healed, Promising safe heaven, Opened eyes to find, Sparkling eager eyes, Manifesting exuberance ,  'Ma, Baburam is awake' A song to his ears, 'Baburam, Baburam...' A new found nest, Yet unfamiliar, Blinking his eyes, To rebuff the intense light, Humbling the darkness outside, Three heads laughing in delight, Tireless effort...

Blogger Debabani Chandra's first book of poetry 'Optimism Unveiled' has been published by Notion Press Chennai.
